Maintenance of cylinders
It is very important that the cylinders are checked regularly. While the cylinders are with us, we examine them carefully, both internally and externally.
If needed, we do the following:
- The cylinders are washed
- The valve is replaced
- The labels are changed and updated
We use our own labels in accordance with the CLP regulation.
Analysis
Repairs cost both time and money. By analyzing the refrigerants, it is possible to prevent damage that requires repair.
We perform the following analyses:
- GC Analysis
Gas Chromatography is an analysis method that works for HCFC, HFC/HFO, HC and CO2. The analysis shows which refrigerant(s) are in the cylinder. - Moisture Analysis
We find out how high the moisture content is in the refrigerant. Too much moisture can reduce performance and in very rare cases it can cause damage to the cylinder.
After the analysis, the customer is provided with a certificate with the results.
Pressure test
Re-testing is done at 10-year intervals to ensure that the cylinder is still able to withstand the pressure it was designed to withstand. According to routine, we test together with third parties who are experts in the field. Before the re-testing, we go through various markings on the cylinder to see if any markings are missing, if they are still valid and if they are visible. Cylinders that fail the pressure test are scrapped.
After the re-testing, the customer is provided with a certificate with the results.
Destruction
HJJ AB is authorized to receive CFC, HCFC, HFC and HFO for analysis and destruction.
Destruction procedure:
- We supply the customer with 27,2 L or 60 L cylinders
- The cylinders are returned to us filled with contaminated refrigerant
- They are sorted, analyzed and weighed
- Contaminated refrigerant that cannot be regenerated is emptied into an appropriate
container and sent for destruction - If the refrigerant can be regenerated, we will do this on site
Empty cylinders are carefully inspected to ensure they are in good condition and the date is valid. The cylinders are vacuumed and stored to be supplied when a new order is placed.
Return refrigerant handling procedure:
1. Download and fill in the pdf or contact us for further assistance.
2. Fill the bottle with return refrigerant.
3. Remove Not ADR Classified 1.1.3.2C (which is already on the bottle).
4. Put the "green 2" on the bottle as well as the label for return refrigerant, filled in.
5. Send these bottles to us for processing.
6. Report the waste to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency which products and volumes you have sent to us.
